Role of Public and Private Sectors:

PUBLIC SECTOR

It is imperative for the Public Sector to realize their responsibilities towards the physically challenged people.  Public Sector being authoritative should enforce that “The Accessibility Code of Pakistan” is fully implemented.

Since the Public Sector is considered as part of Government, they should be role model for others and set precedents.

While the Public Sector should ensure that the Code is properly implemented, they should also recognize and certify the places which are fully accessible by the physically challenged people and can be set as a standard for others.

PRIVATE SECTOR

The Private Sector is perhaps the key to create awareness and set an example.  They are not restricted to any bureaucratic hurdles.  They should treat this issue as a corporate social responsibility.  They should realize that such facilities will only improve their image.

Private Sector must realize that we should not always depend on Government and the Public Sector to assist or take initiative.  The Private Sector should play a role of catalyst.
